GDPR Data Protection Officer Services

Having a data protection officer is mandatory for all state schools and based on the guidance, all other schools should consider appointing someone to the role.
The role is to be and adviser on data protection law and practice as well as the link between the data controller and the ICO if that becomes necessary.

What We Offer

Taking the role of data protection officer for a school, trust or other institution represents a significant commitment in time and the need to gather expertise. As a DPO you’ll be expected to advise on breaches, subject access requests and assist with data protection impact assessments. You are also required to act independently at times and support data subjects with complaints about the data controller.

The DPO may not have any conflicts of interest, meaning that they should not be involved in making decisions about data processing and yet they must also have a senior role in the organisation. Finding a person who can meet these requirements can be challenging.

We offer range of services to support customers ranging from an ad hoc helpdesk through to a fully outsourced data protection officer meeting all the statutory requirements.

Outsourced DPO & Helpdesk

Overview

This service enables an organisation to make use of our data protection expertise. As a result, you can stop worrying about complex GDPR issues. It’s a partnership where we provide expertise, pro‑forma documents and procedures. In addition, the service includes an audit, which can be conducted either on‑site or remotely, as well as regular telephone reviews.

As serious incidents can arise at any time, the service provides support in the event of a data breach. We work alongside you throughout the entire process, offering clear guidance, practical solutions, and reassurance, helping you to manage the situation effectively and minimise risk.

We recognise that the education sector does not function in the way that the GDPR envisages organisations do. As specialists in Education we are happy to discuss and document a pragmatic approach to so that GDPR does not prevent the main task of providing education to students.

DPO Essentials

Overview

For organisations seeking a consistent approach to GDPR support, this service bridges the gap between one-off incidents and a fully outsourced solution. It is particularly well suited to trusts and schools that have their own Data Protection Officer (DPO) but would benefit from additional reassurance and expert guidance when required.

You will have access to our helpdesk without the need for upfront payment. Access is provided to named individuals (typically the DPO and a deputy) and operates on a fair usage basis.

In addition, there is an option to extend coverage to support incidents outside of normal working hours. By using this service, you can also benefit from discounted rates on our other services, such as auditing or project support.
